Keep SCRATCH Delivering
Will you sign up to give us a regular donation? If 300 people give just £10 per month we can continue our vital work. Please complete the attached standing order form and return it to us. You can, of course, set up a payment online (do let us know that you have done so, then we can thank you personally). If you are a tax payer, please complete the gift aid form so that we can reclaim an additional 25% from the government.
SCRATCH has been helping the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our local communities for over 20 years. Last year we saw an increase of 34% in the demand for our services, but regular donations haven’t kept pace with this increase. With a decrease in available grant funding and higher operating costs, we need to secure a large rise in regular income to continue provision at the current level - we’d hate not to be there when people need us most.
How do we help? Our Dorcas Project provides furniture and household items to referred individuals and families. In the last year 1318 households benefitted, helping 1647 adults and 1265 children.
Christmas Complete provides a parcel of 8 or 9 presents to children and young people who might otherwise not receive presents to open on Christmas Day. In December 2019, 2074 individuals from over 880 families were blessed in this way (an increase of 11% on the previous year)
Everyone we help is referred by one of our trusted referral agents to ensure that they have a genuine need. The reasons people find themselves calling on our services include: homelessness, low income, redundancy, domestic violence, fire, family breakdown and bereavement.
We really value the support and goodwill that many people show us. But goodwill alone doesn’t pay for the fuel for our lorry or our other running costs.
We have supported local families through their toughest times. Now we are facing a tough time and urge you to help us if you can.
SCRATCH is not in debt. All funds donated to this appeal will be used to help us to continue to provide vital support services for local people in need.
